OCFS / SUNY PDP Health & Safety Trainings

We offer the entire range of required Health and Safety trainings to meet your program needs. All trainings are 15 hours in length, and attendance at all sessions as well as any competency testing, pre-work or post-work is required to obtain the certificate.

Health & Safety Training: 

Competencies for Becoming a Family or Group Family Day Care Provider 

This competency-based 15-hour training provides a foundation for practices that promote and protect the health and safety of children in home-based child care. Successful completion of this course is required for all new family or group family day care applicants in New York State prior to licensure or registration, as well as for existing family or group family day care providers who change location or modality. This course is required for all new FDC and GFDC providers by NYS OCFS.

Health and Safety Training: 

Competencies in Child Care for Day Care Center, School-Age Child Care, and Enrolled Legally Exempt Group Directors

Directors are responsible for hiring, training and maintaining staff who provide a healthy and safe environment for children. This course will help directors look at policies and procedures that reinforce high-quality health and safety practices.

Health and Safety: 

Competencies in Child Care for Day Care Center and School-Age Child Care Program Staff 

This competency-based 15-hour training provides a foundation for practices that promote and protect the health and safety of children in center-based child care. While not an OCFS requirement, this training can serve as a way to move staff toward high-quality practices for all children in care.
